Development of Google Sites Web-Based Learning Media in Improving The Effectiveness of Islamic education Learning In Schools

Abstract

The rapid development of information technology presents numerous opportunities for the world of education to utilize digital media as an effective and efficient means of learning. One of the most accessible, practical, and multifunctional media is Google Sites, a free website builder platform that can be used as a learning medium. This study uses a literature review method with a descriptive-analytical approach. The literature review was chosen because the study focuses on collecting, analyzing, and synthesizing various relevant reference sources related to the development of web-based learning media, particularly Google Sites, in improving the effectiveness of Islamic Religious Education learning. The initial process was carried out by searching for scientific sources related to web-based learning media, particularly Google Sites. The search was conducted through national and international journals, books, proceedings, and relevant scientific works (thesis, dissertation). The selected literature had the following criteria: (a) published between 2021 and 2024 to ensure recency, (b) directly discussing web-based learning media or Google Sites, and (c) having relevance to the context of PAI learning or education in general. Sources that did not meet these criteria were excluded from the analysis process. The selected literature was analyzed by grouping themes into several main categories, namely: (a) the concept and definition of Google Sites, (b) web-based learning, (c) the ADDIE development model in learning media, and (d) the advantages and disadvantages of Google Sites in educational implementation. After the analysis process, a synthesis was carried out by integrating findings from various literatures. The results of this synthesis are presented in the form of a structured narrative description, then used as a basis for building arguments regarding the effectiveness of Google Sites-based learning media to improve the quality of Islamic Religious Education learning in schools. By using a literature review, this article not only presents theory, but also compares the results of previous studies, so that a more comprehensive understanding is obtained regarding the potential and challenges of using Google Sites as a web-based learning medium.
